Highly flexible pointing compound
Enhanced Adhesive and durability properties
Pre-Mixed and Available pre-coloured
Tested by CSIRO to AS2050
During Curing
OVERVIEW
Rain penetration through tile roofs is often caused by the cracking of sand / cement adhesive frequently used for pointing tiles. Sand / cement adhesive has little flexibility and can crack due to natural movements in a house or temperature fluctuations. Sand/cement mortar can also take up to 24 hours for initial curing.
Tilepoint has been purposely developed to overcome the disadvantages of the traditional sand / cement adhesive for pointing. Tilepoint is pre-coloured to save time, and packaged in 2 or 10 litre pails. Colour Range includes - Red (17), Natural (00), Rivergum (09), Terracotta (07), Dark Brown (16), Mid Brown (15), Garnet (18), Black (24), Ash (21), Charcoal (23), Burgundy (19). DIRECTIONS
- Fill holes in bedding with sand/cement mortar not Tilepoint.
- Spread along ridge cap length and smooth off to a steeled finish and uniform thickness of 3-5mm.
Collars should be conservative and just sufficient to seal the cap overlap.
- Set ridge tiles and trowel finish immediately. Lubricate trowel with water if needed. Do not sponge.
- Weep holes should be inserted before curing has progressed too far.
- Clean up tools in water before Tilepoint cures.
- Tilepoint can be applied over wet bedding, provided bedding is firm enough to withstand trowel pressure.
ADVANTAGES
- Tilepoint is a flexible, waterproofing adhesive that
expands and contracts with temperature changes
and house movement thereby maintaining a seal
around ridge caps on apex and hip roofs.
- Tilepoint has very strong adhesive properties.
- Tilepoint comes pre-mixed and pre-coloured to
save time and maximise convenience for tilers.
- Tilepoint has excellent trowel-ability properties.
- Tilepoint will be water-resistant within two hours
on warm, dry days.
- Tilepoint can be colour tinted on site to match
tiles very closely.
- Tilepoint is a synthetic acrylic polymer with a
melting point of 100°C.
DIAGRAM SHOWING TILEPOINT ON RIDGECAP

Avoid using Tilepoint when temperatures are below 5°C. Allow longer curing times for low temperatures and high humidity conditions. On warm days, Tilepoint will be water resistant within 2 hours.
Never apply if rain seems likely within two hours. Product must be stored out of direct sunlight with lids tightly closed, and maintained at temperatures between 5°C and 45°C.
CSIRO TEST (Report No. DTF558).
Tilepoint ridgecap pointing material was tested by the CSIRO to cyclic fatigue loading conditions as per AS2050. This test determines the wind uplift rating of an adhesive mechanical fastening after conditioning in cyclonic areas.
The sample system of Tilepoint adhesive successfully passed the test criteria at the design pressure of 8.21kPa.
